Manchester City and Manchester United would perhaps take joy in poaching each other’s respective transfer targets due to their age-old rivalry.
United, in particular have signed several players City have targeted in the past, such as Alexis Sanchez and Harry Maguire to name a few.
But ultimately, Manchester City have always had the last laugh as they have gone on to dominate English football while the Red Devils are yet to win the Premier League or the Champions League in over a decade.
Once again, both City and Manchester United seem to be going for the same player.
Man City should let Manchester United sign Atalanta star Ederson
The name in question is Ederson, who Manchester City admire but so do United and Newcastle, as the Brazilian international could be available for a fee in the region of £34 million to £42 million.
However, Pep Guardiola’s men are in no need to sign Ederson and as a result, City should back out of the race to sign Ederson and let Manchester United and Newcastle battle it out for his signature.

With the 25-year-old being a box-to-box midfielder, he would come into a Sky Blues side that could feature Nico Gonzalez, Manchester City-bound Tijjani Reijnders as well as Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva.
Al-Hilal are eyeing Bernardo and while the 31-year-old as well as Gundogan and Mateo Kovacic might be past their best, they understand City’s system to a tee and can be excellent options as potential understudies to Reijnders and Nico.
Ederson can play as a number six but Pep Guardiola seems to view Nico as a defensive midfielder anyway, famously referring to him as a “mini-Rodri.”
🔵💎 Pep Guardiola: “Nico González is a mini-Rodri”.
“The presence from Nico helps us a lot in 50/50s. Man City made an incredible investment for the future”.
“It’s a big complement but in duels he is. He’s far away in other things because Rodri is the best”. pic.twitter.com/FaZG1FEJcM

It is at right-back where City need investment but Newcastle are unwilling to sell Tino Livramento, who is the English giants’ number one target this summer to replace the potentially outgoing Kyle Walker.
Man City in talks to sign £29 million star apart from Ederson
It seems like Manchester City are building a team for the future, especially in midfield.
Rayan Cherki is on City’s radar, who is just 21 years old while Reijnders is 21 and Nico is only 23.
Phil Foden is only 25 as well and is entering the prime years of his career.
Manchester City are in talks to sign Ardon Jashari, 22, who would cost £29.3 million.
With Jashari being a natural defensive midfielder unlike Ederson while being more cost-effective, it would make much more sense for Manchester City to target his services instead.
