There should be no doubts about Viktor Gyokeres’ ability to perform in the Premier League if he makes a move to Manchester United.
Manchester United need to sign a striker this summer who lives and breathes goals and Viktor Gyokeres has proven he fits the bill.
The 27-year-old scored 54 goals in all competitions last season and now there is a gentleman’s agreement for Gyokeres to be sold for around £60 million this summer.
Ruben Amorim is keen to reunite with Gyokeres at Old Trafford, and with Liam Delap moving to Chelsea, Ineos have had to rethink their striker strategy.
Despite United losing the Europa League final and missing out on European football, Gyokeres is open to joining United. His goal record suggests he could be a mega-star at Old Trafford.

Viktor Gyokeres sets impressive xG record at Sporting Lisbon
One of Amorim’s biggest frustrations last season was United’s poor chance conversion in front of goal. Poor finishing cost the Red Devils countless points in the Premier League and the Europa League final.
By March, only three United players outperformed their xG (expected goals), meaning the majority of the squad was squandering chances, including striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Meanwhile, in Portugal, Gyokeres was the highest overperformer of his xG tally which is a huge compliment to his finishing ability.

It implies that Gyokeres should have scored six fewer goals than he actually did based on the chances presented to him, but clearly the Swedish star is often able to conjure a goal out of very little.
Amorim urged United to be more ‘clinical’ in front of goal last season, but with Gyokeres in the squad that would no longer be an issue.
Viktor Gyokeres shares trait with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha
Ineos have wasted no time getting stuck into United’s transfer business this summer and so far the priority has been overhauling the attacking department.
Matheus Cunha was signed for £62.5m on the first day of the window, and now Ineos have submitted bids for Bryan Mbeumo.
Gyokeres could be the final piece of the puzzle to complete a new-look front three for Amorim next season.
Remarkably, all three attacking players outperformed their expected goals (xG) last season, proving they are all very talented in front of goal.

Statistically, Cunha is one of the Premier League’s most clinical finishers, while Mbeumo has been prolific at Brentford with 20 Premier League goals to his name in 2024/25.
United need goals and all three forward targets scored them in abundance last season – Amorim will hope they can hit the ground running at Old Trafford.
