Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to offer Jack Grealish an escape from his Manchester City nightmare but only on a loan deal.
Grealish is headed for the Etihad exit door amid his omission from Pep Guardiola's squad for the FIFA Club World Cup. He was handed a bit-part role last season, starting just seven of 20 Premier League games.
The 29-year-old has two years left on his contract but is expected to be offloaded in the ongoing transfer window, whether that be permanently or on loan. He could join Eddie Howe's Magpies, who want a squad that possesses strength in depth ahead of their return to the Champions League.

The Sun reports that Newcastle are interested in signing Grealish, and Howe will make an approach if City attempt to send the former Aston Villa captain elsewhere. But the Magpies are only looking at signing the winger on loan because of the player's £300,000 per week wages.
The Tyneside outfit is one of several clubs thought to be eyeing the England international, but it's unlikely any will be willing to pay a fee alongside his hefty salary. A straight loan is stated "a challenge for most", which could mean City paying part of his wages for the year.
City are ready to take a £60m hit on the club-record £100m they spent on Grealish in the summer of 2021. He's struggled to live up to expectations, although he was a key man in the Cityzens' continental treble triumph in 2023.

Newcastle could do with his experience, and Howe waxed lyrical, calling him "outstanding" two years ago. However, they will want a financially reasonable deal. They may also have one eye on Anthony Gordon's situation amid growing speculation over potential offers arriving for their English winger.
Gordon is reportedly top of Liverpool's wishlist if they are forced to replace Luis Diaz this summer. The Magpies have slapped an £80m price-tag on the 24-year-old, who only signed a new long-term contract last October.
