Red Sox Pitcher Subject Of Dumb Mistake At Yankee Stadium

Yankee Stadium clubhouse attendants apparently didn’t think any of them were worthy of searching, because they made the most avoidable mistake possible prior to this weekend’s series between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

Crochet’s locker tag was misspelled.

“It’s the second time it has happened in the last couple of weeks,” Crochet told Rob Bradford of Audacy.

I do want to get ahead of this and say, yes, I’ve also misspelled a name or two in the past and I literally get paid to do this. It’s a common mistake, but the one guy you probably don’t want to do it to is your biggest rival’s ace starting pitcher.

Crochet didn’t exactly dominate throughout his outing Saturday, but he did strike out Aaron Judge three times and limit the damage in a series-tying victory against The Bronx Bombers. I can’t say for certain that he was motivated by the gaffe, but you can bet your bottom dollar that his name will be spelled correctly next time he steps foot in that bandbox.
