Trent Alexander-Arnold’s controversial move from Liverpool to Real Madrid has finally been confirmed after months of speculation.
The Premier League champions accepted a bid of €10million (£8.4million) to allow the 26-year-old to make the move to the Santiago Bernabeu early.
The Spanish giants will also cover the right-back’s wages for June after his deal was set to expire at the end of this month.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Liverpool have agreed a “brilliant” deal after securing a significant fee for Alexander-Arnold.
The England international has signed a six-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and has a release clause of around £210million.
Alexander-Arnold is now free to play in this summer’s Club World Cup, with Real Madrid playing their first fixture against Al-Hilal on 18 June.

Liverpool rewarded after Real Madrid negotiations
Borson insisted it’s “absolute madness” the amount of football Alexander-Arnold and his new Real Madrid teammates will be required to play this summer due to the Club World Cup.
He told Football Insider: “I got that one completely wrong.
“I thought that the Liverpool wage saving would be enough to encourage Liverpool to do a deal with Real because they had no benefit from having him on the books for June, and they would have had to have paid him.
“But somehow, not only do they save the wages, but they get £10million. I guess the way to look at it is to say the manager really wants the player as soon as possible, and if they get it right at the Club World Cup, they can do £125million of prize money.
“There is no way that I would have done that deal if I were Real Madrid. I’d let the player have the summer off, let him relax and get fit for the new season. Instead, you’ve got the internationals, then he goes off to the Club World Cup.
“He’s probably not played very much since April, so he’s probably in better shape than a lot of players. But the players that are playing in that Club World Cup have had no rest whatsoever.
“We know Real Madrid are going to go to at least the quarter-finals and probably the semi-finals at least, so they’re not going to be finished with that tournament until 10 July or something like that at a minimum.
“The season starts a month later. It’s absolute madness. So, if I were them, I’d have taken that opportunity. Instead, they doubled down on it and they want to get him on board very early.
“I’m very surprised, but it’s a brilliant deal for Liverpool. It’s a brilliant negotiation, brilliant from them holding their nerve, and they have been well rewarded for it.”

Liverpool star could join Serie A club
In terms of another potential exit, Football Insider revealed on 4 June Harvey Elliott is most likely to join a Serie A club if he leaves Liverpool this summer.
Elliott rejected a move to Nottingham Forest last week, but sources suggest there is a growing likelihood he will exit Anfield in the coming weeks.
Liverpool’s coaches believe the 22-year-old lacks the intensity off the ball required to fit into their playing style on a regular basis and be a nailed-on starter.
