Marcus Rashford is just one of many talents to come out of the Manchester United academy over the course of decades. Whether it be Beckham, Rashford or even Garnacho, the United academy system has delivered talent to the Red Devils squad and delivered special moments to the Old Trafford faithful.

However, Rashford – who is arguably one of the greatest Manchester United youth academy graduates ever – has been on a downward slope since the 2022-23 season with the 27 year old falling from a starting position to the bench and eventually completely out of the United matchday squad.

For a slight period, it looked as if the England international had regained his old form with a loan spell at Aston Villa during the second half of the 2024-25 campaign offering both Villa and United fans a taste of the Rashford of old.

However, an injury put an end to this run of form.

The Summer Transfer Window

Now, with the summer transfer window fully in swing and open for the time being, Manchester United are in the middle of a recruitment surge as they look to bring high quality players into the squad ahead of the 2025-26 season.

However, this does mean having to sell or move on some players either through permanent or loan deals.

This has already been reported on through the rumoured departure of Rasmus Hojlund alongside the departure of academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho. Marcus Rashford is also one of the names included on the rumoured list of departures.

With Rashford wanting a transfer, the club have had to consider their options.

United Open To Loan Move

Initially, Manchester United were reported to only be considering a permanent deal with a set price of £40 million for the winger.

However, now, it has been reported that the club is open to a loan move for the 27 year old as they look to save his salary. Rashford himself also has offered himself to Barcelona with his agent reported to have been in the Spanish city just days ago.

With the winger ruling out a move to Saudi Arabia in order to continue playing in Europe and with Rashford looking to be prioritising Barcelona over other clubs, will United be able to move Rashford on or will a deal remain incomplete?

Only time will tell in that matter.
