Report: Where Everton's pursuit of Jack Grealish is currently at as one tricky hurdle emerges

Everton are facing a hugely important summer, and currently there is talk Jack Grealish could make a move to the club.

David Moyes is now looking to build on the great work he did since arriving in January, by building the squad ready for the 2025/26 season.

He needs backing from The Friedkin Group if Everton are to push on next season.

A top half finish will likely be the official objective. But Evertonians far and wide would really love to see the Toffees actually try and push for Europe.

In recent days, Everton have been linked with Jack Grealish.

The Manchester City winger is all but certain to leave the Etihad Stadium in this window, especially with Grealish likely to be left out of their Club World Cup squad, and the Hill Dickinson Stadium has been suggested as a possible landing spot.

But currently, there is one major hurdle Everton are presented with.

Grealish undoubtedly needs a change of environment.

He has not been a regular for City for some time, and if he wants to make England’s 2026 World Cup squad he will need to move on.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been linked with Grealish.

Everton are there too, but at the moment there’s a key issue for the Toffees.

According to the Daily Mail, any Everton move for the player would likely only be a loan because of the player’s huge wages.

He’s one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League on £300,000 per week.

Realistically, Everton would need City to agree to pay a sizeable chunk of these wages if they were to take him on loan.

Work to do for Everton to sign Grealish

It would be brilliant to see Everton pull off a move for Grealish this summer.

Yes, he has struggled in recent times. But there’s every chance he could find a new lease of life at the Hill Dickinson Stadium under Moyes, who is a long-term admirer of the winger.

By the sounds of it right now, a move is nowhere near close to happening.

The report states that Everton have not even made contact with City – they are just aware of his availability at this moment in time.

But some serious negotiating will be required if Moyes is to land the England international.
