Manchester United are bracing for a crucial summer to swiftly turn their luck around.

With no European football on the cards and zero room for excuses, Ruben Amorim must hit the ground running to validate his position as United's gaffer.

The Portuguese manager is gearing up for his inaugural pre-season at the helm of the club, hoping for an uptick in performance. Naturally, there will be a shuffle of players coming into and exiting Old Trafford.

United have already snapped up Matheus Cunha and are hot on the heels of Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils have bumped their offer for the latter to £60million after shelling out £62.5m for Cunha.

And then there's the task of sorting out the departures of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United are primed to pounce for Viktor Gyokeres, potentially stealing a march on Arsenal. Rumours of a move to Old Trafford have been buzzing since Ruben Amorim took over, although missing out on European football was thought to be a setback.

However, it's believed that the Swedish striker isn't fazed and is open to the switch. Gyokeres carries a price tag of about £65m, just under his release clause following an agreement with Sporting to stay put last summer.

With Arsenal currently distracted by Benjamin Sesko, reports suggest United have got their finances in order to seal the deal.

Jadon Sancho stance

Jadon Sancho is reportedly done with Manchester United, according to ESPN. This sentiment is echoed by his head coach, Ruben Amorim, despite the two not having teamed up yet.

Sancho clocked in five goals and 10 assists over 42 games for Chelsea across all competitions, contributing to their Conference League triumph. Despite this, his time at Stamford Bridge didn't exactly set the pitch on fire, leaving clubs hesitant to make a move.

The Hammers are rumoured to have a lukewarm interest in snapping up Sancho, but his hefty pay packet could be a stumbling block. The ex-Borussia Dortmund star still has a year to run on his contract with the Red Devils.

Thomas Meunier's Man Utd dream

In other news, ex-PSG defender Thomas Meunier has spilled the beans on his United dreams. The 33-year-old Lille right-back confessed he'd jump at the chance to join the club if it came knocking.

With just a year left on his current deal, the Belgian ace seems to reckon his opportunity to sign with the 13-time Premier League winners has slipped away.

Meunier told Gazet van Antwerpen, admitted: "If they ever ask me, I'll cycle there [United]. But maybe it's better this way. Suppose I play there and have a bad time. I wouldn't want to hate Manchester United, because I love that club so much.
