Everton are keen on strengthening this summer, with David Moyes prioritising certain transfers in the coming weeks.

The Scotsman replaced Sean Dyche mid-season and, despite the odds being stacked against him, managed to dramatically turn the fortunes around for the Toffees.

With The Friedkin Group overseeing their first summer transfer window at Everton, it is expected to be an eventful one.

Jack Grealish situation being monitored by officials as Moyes eyes transfer

According to the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan (8 June), Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish has emerged as an Everton transfer target.

The Toffees are viewed as “shock” contenders to secure the England international’s services this summer.

Officials are said to be monitoring the situation, with them aware of the 29-year-old’s availability.

Any move would likely be a loan one, given his wages of £300,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish joined City from Aston Villa for a £100million fee back in 2021 but it’s been far from smooth sailing for him.

Everton could benefit from signing Grealish this summer

To revive the Aston Villa version of Grealish at Everton, Moyes must tailor his tactics to maximise Grealish’s flair, creativity and attacking instincts, which made him a standout before his £100million move to Manchester City.

At Villa, he thrived as a free-roaming left-winger or No. 10, contributing 32 goals and 43 assists in 213 games.

Moyes should deploy him in a fluid 4-2-3-1, granting him license to drift centrally, exploit half-spaces, and drive at defenders, leveraging his dribbling ability and sharpness at winning fouls.

Moyes can utilise Grealish’s work rate to win back possession, sparking counter-attacks and he must foster confidence through consistent starts, unlike Pep Guardiola’s rotation-heavy approach, which limited Grealish to 17 goals in 157 City appearances.

Pairing him with dynamic wingers like Dwight McNeil and a target man like Beto would recreate Villa’s attacking synergy.

Moyes’ man-management, seen in reviving players like Jesse Lingard, can rebuild Grealish’s swagger.

Regular fan engagement at the Hill Dickinson Stadium will further fuel his motivation, restoring the fearless, creative spark that defined his Villa tenure and elevating Everton’s top-six push.
