Chelsea have made an initial €35m transfer offer for Jamie Gittens, but as expected, it’s been rejected. As per Sky Germany and BBC Sport, Borussia Dortmund are holding out for a bid in the range of €50m-60m. Personal terms over a seven-year contract have already been agreed, with Gittens said to be keen on moving to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are set to return to the table with an improved bid. Fabrizio Romano notes that we are going to now include add-ons as part of the negotiations with Borussia Dortmund to reach a higher figure. While we would prefer to have Gittens with us for the Club World Cup, the club are not in a rush to force through any deal.

Negotiations are ongoing, and a new offer from Chelsea is expected. After the first offer of €35m was rejected by #BVB.

Chelsea have also made an initial bid for Mike Maignan, to the sum of €15m, as per Fabrizio Romano. However, as Gianluca Di Marzio and Daniele Longo note, that bid has also been rejected. AC Milan have deemed our €15m to be unsatisfactory, and are holding out for as much as €25m. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, we also tried to use Kepa Arrizabalaga and Đorđe Petrović as makeweights, but to no avail.
Enzo Maresca seemingly doesn’t trust Robert Sánchez to be our first-choice, and wants Maignan to take over between the sticks, but whether we would be willing to go any higher for a soon-to-be 30-year-old goalkeeper on the last year of his contract remains to be seen.
Like Gittens, Maignan is also very much open to coming to West London, with personal terms already having been agreed, and is attracted by the idea of playing in the Premier League and the Champions League. Milan have already identified replacements for the France international, with the likes of Mile Svilar, Zion Suzuki and Elia Caprile said to be on the wish-list.
