Cole Palmer’s success at Chelsea could be replicated by a Tottenham transfer target.

Daniel Levy is currently overseeing plenty of change at Tottenham, with Ange Postecoglou sacked by the Lilywhites on Friday (6 June).

The Australian was relieved of his duties after a disastrous Premier League campaign, which saw Tottenham finish 17th with 38 points.

Delays over resolving Postecoglou’s future have prevented Tottenham from kicking on with their transfer business. However, Spurs still have the chance to sign a player full of potential for a reasonable fee.

It is understood that the 22-year-old would be keen on a move to Tottenham.

McAtee isn’t expected to have any issues passing his medical in North London, and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – would welcome the signing.

“This is a young, versatile player we’re talking about,” Wenham said.

“He’s got potential and sell on value. Therefore, I’m sure from Tottenham’s point of view, a deal would make sense. He might be the next Palmer.

“Just like Palmer, he might be a player who needs a move away from City to break the mould and really establish himself at a different club.

“I’m not sure if maybe he’d be better off making a move to a slightly lesser club first, and breaking through there. However, maybe Tottenham should take that gamble and sign him now.”

Tottenham must chose their next manager soon

If Spurs want to have any chance of bringing McAtee and other potential targets to Hotspur Way, they must decide on a new manager.

Tottenham have several options to replace Postecoglou this summer. However, a decision has not yet been made on the 59-year-old’s successor.

Thomas Frank has emerged as the favourite and is reportedly keen on the move.

The Brentford boss impressed in the Premier League after guiding the Bees to a 10th-place finish this season. Since Frank was promoted to the role of Brentford Head Coach in October 2018, the Dane has transformed the West London outfit into a mid-table side with the potential to climb the ranks further.

His record is incredible given the limited resources available at Brentford. Therefore, this suggests he could excel at Tottenham, who have more to offer from a financial standpoint.

However, Spurs will need to appoint Frank quickly so that the 51-year-old can plan for next season.
