Federico Chiesa is keen on a return to Italy should he leave Liverpool this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian winger only joined the Reds from Juventus for £10m in August 2024 but is likely to be on the move during the ongoing transfer window. He struggled to win over Arne Slot during his debut season, starting just one of six Premier League games while dealing with injury troubles.
The 27-year-old netted in a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final after coming off the bench. His stay at Anfield could be brief, especially with a Mohamed Salah replacement no longer required following the Egyptian's contract renewal.
Liverpool Star Chiesa Wants Italy Return

Slot didn't get much wrong in his first season in charge, but there are question marks over his handling of Chiesa. The 51-cap Italy international has proven in the past that he's an excellent attacker, but it seems he has grown frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities.
Romano gave an update on Chiesa's situation and explained that although he loves the Reds, he doesn't want to spend another season on the bench (via his YouTube channel):
"Federico Chiesa wants to play more. He doesn't want to spend another season 90 per cent of the time on the bench. My understanding is that there is a concrete possibility for Chiesa to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window."
There appears to be interest from Serie A where he shined at Fiorentina before joining Juve amid his breakout Euro 2020 campaign.
Romano wrote on his X account:
"Chiesa loves Liverpool but limited game time an issue and Italian clubs started contacts to be informed on potential deal conditions."

Chiesa, who earns a purported £180,000 per week, spoke about his future this past week and suggested he could stay at Anfield because it was an experience he'd "do again". He told Corriere Dello Sport that he and his family would find the "best solution", but he "wouldn't mind" staying with the Premier League champions.
Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz, which could further complicate matters for Chiesa regarding game time. The German playmaker can play out wide and in attacking midfield, and Romano reports that negotiations are in their "final stages".
