The San Antonio Spurs have one of the most promising futures in the NBA—and much of that promise revolves around two-way French superstar Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama capped off his second NBA season with an All-Star appearance, though his campaign was cut short due to a blood clot in his shoulder. Fortunately, he has made phenomenal progress in his recovery since then.
While the NBA Finals have captured most of the basketball world’s attention as the season winds down, Wembanyama made waves of his own on Sunday when photos surfaced showing a drastic change to his hairstyle.
Throughout his two years in the league, Wembanyama has mostly stuck with the same look—though he has worn his hair in cornrows on occasion. This time, however, he went for a completely new look: a buzz cut. The change reportedly came after he visited monks at a Shaolin Temple in China.
Fans reacted to Wemby's stunning new look:
"Homies the worlds tallest monk," a fan said.
Another fan posted, "Moving into his Kareem Abdul-Jabbar phase."
Someone else said, "Naw he gotta chill, he look like a mortal combat character."
One more fan commented, "He's coming back with otherworldly patient and wisdom it might be over for the association."

Across two seasons with the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama has averaged 22.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.7 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game. San Antonio has enjoyed back-to-back Rookie of the Year winners—Wembanyama in his first year, followed by Stephon Castle this past season.
Now, they’ve once again surged up the lottery and hold the No. 2 overall pick in this month’s NBA Draft, along with the No. 14 pick. This gives the Spurs the flexibility to either add two more lottery-level rookies or potentially package the picks in a trade to acquire an All-Star-caliber running mate for Wembanyama.
