Arsenal are optimistic that agreements on contract extensions for Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are now both in sight, with their current deals running down.

Ryan Taylor reports for the Mirror that Arsenal academy graduates Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are in line for new deals which would include lucrative pay rises.
Both Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly are currently on contracts lasting until 2026, but Taylor reports that there’s optimism agreements for both players are now in sight.

Any Arsenal fan not keeping a close eye on Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly’s contract situations might be surprised to learn that the two players only have deals lasting until next summer.
The two players have long been talked about among Arsenal’s top academy prospects, so it might seem strange that they weren’t on longer deals to begin with.
The problem is that young players can only sign long-term contracts once they turn 18. At 17, the longest deal you can sign is for the remainder of the current campaign, plus two more.
Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri signed professional terms during the 2023/24 campaign, meaning they couldn’t sign a contract beyond the conclusion of the 2025/26 season at that point.

Since then, the duo have both turned 18, so they’re now eligible for whatever deals Arsenal want to give them. You’d expect the Gunners to offer them both five-year contracts at a minimum, and if signed, that would take us to 2030.
