Manchester United and Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen after he reportedly turned down another Saudi approach. The Nigerian striker has been on the radar of several of England's leading sides this summer after an impressive season on loan at Turkish outfit Galatasaray.
A report from Sky Sports Italia has revealed that Osimhen will not be joining Saudi giants Al-Hilal in a £63 million move despite their readiness to trigger his release clause. Personal terms could not be reached for the 26-year-old despite the best efforts of Al-Hilal to make him by far their highest-paid player.
Osimhen was banished from the Napoli squad last summer after he made his intentions to leave the club clear. He joined Galatasaray on loan after a move to Chelsea fell through, and he went on to score 37 goals as he led his side to a league and cup double this season.
Manchester United and Arsenal are among the sides to have been linked with the Nigeria international, and the links have come back this summer. Osimhen will surely leave Napoli this summer, but the lanky striker appears to be holding out for a European club to match his demands.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United have failed to sign a striker this summer, with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko seen as concrete possibilities. The news of Osimhen turning down yet another Saudi offer will give them the belief that one of them - or another European side, can land the striker.
Arsenal, Manchester United keeping tabs on Spanish striker: Reports
Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United are monitoring FC Porto star Samu Aghehowa ahead of a possible summer switch, as per CaughtOffside. The Spanish youngster is a target for multiple sides after an impressive season in Portugal.
Former Atletico Madrid man Aghehowa came close to joining Chelsea last summer before the deal fell through at the last moment. He joined Porto instead, and scored 25 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for the Portuguese giants.
The report from CaughtOffside has indicated that Arsenal and Manchester United are among a number of sides watching the 21-year-old closely. He has a £84 million release clause in his contract, but Porto will listen to offers above £59 million for him. The Spain international is one to watch as there is expected to be a great deal of movement in the striker market before the end of the summer.
