Alexis Mac Allister opened up about the tackle that nearly broke his leg.
The Argentinian midfielder had an outstanding performance during his second season at the club, where he played a key role in helping Liverpool win the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season.
Mac Allister joined the club in 2023 and quickly became one of the standout performers for the Reds. He scored five goals and provided five assists in both Premier League seasons for Liverpool.
The Premier League champions shared a photo of Alexis Mac Allister after he completed two years at the club on Sunday.
His playmaking role has been a key part of the English champions’ success in the last two seasons.
During the title-winning campaign, the World Cup winner encountered a harsh challenge from Everton’s James Tarkowski during the Merseyside derby at Anfield in April.
The 26-year-old midfielder spoke about the tackle and how it came dangerously close to ending his season—or worse.

What Alexis Mac Allister revealed about the tackle
The Argentine said: “It could have broken my leg twice! That they didn’t send him (Tarkowski) off was incredible. If I’d had my foot planted on the ground, it would have broken my leg completely.”
The tackle occurred in the 11th minute of the match. Tarkowski was shown a yellow card for his challenge. VAR reviewed the incident but didn’t upgrade the yellow to a red.
Later, the Premier League refereeing body (PGMOL) admitted that it should have been a red card.
Mac Allister further added: “At the time, I realised it was too strong. But what shocked me most was his face when he went for the tackle. I wouldn’t say he was trying to break me, but I feel I was lucky given the way he went in.”
