Manchester United are now said to have lowered their asking price for one of their key players, as the interest in his signature from around Europe is continuing to grow.
Ruben Amorim has deemed a couple of players surplus to requirements for his rebuild at Manchester United, and one player in particular he is keen to offload is generating interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.
Amorim is busy planning with his squad for next season as the incoming start to come in, with a deal for Matheus Cunha already completed, with Bryan Mbeumo’s move still not finalised but expected to get done in the coming days.
Outgoings will be on his mind too, and one such player United are expected to sell in the coming weeks has now reportedly had his price tag lowered.
United were reportedly looking to sell Alejandro Garnacho for around £60 million in the January window, when interest was indeed high. Still, that figure is now reportedly lower, with several clubs vying to complete a deal.
Manchester United lower price tag for Garnacho
Manchester United are now said to have lowered their price tag for Garnacho, as a report from Rudy Galetti has stated the club are willing to accept a fee of around £50 million as opposed to the original asking price of £60 million.
Garnacho is now expected to leave the club, with Fabrizio Romano confirming as much yesterday, and clubs like Napoli, Atlético Madrid, and even Aston Villa are reportedly very interested in signing him.
Galetti also named Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen, and AC Milan as other clubs interested in his signature this summer.
United are keen to fund moves with their outgoings, as Mbeumo is expected to cost around £60m, with a move for Victor Gyokeres also likely to be upwards of £50m should they make that happen.
The sales of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho will also help United fund some of their incomings. Still, Garnacho’s price tag is going to be the one that garners the most money out of any of the players available for sale.
Amorim has already informed Garnacho that he is not needed at the club next summer, as a declaration made at the training ground following the players’ reaction to being left out of the Europa League final starting eleven did not go down well with the staff at the club.
Garnacho is definitely a risk worth taking
Garnacho will undoubtedly become a top player in the coming years, but it may be beneficial for both parties to part ways now. The Argentine has had numerous behavioural issues in recent months with Amorim, and the manager has decided that things are unlikely to change much ahead of the new season.
Amorim left Garnacho out of the squad for the Manchester derby earlier in the season, along with Marcus Rashford, and since then, the relationship between the two has not seemed to have changed.

The number of clubs interested in the player showcases his class. Still, his continued issues, along with his reluctance to rein in his brother’s social media outbursts, have come at a detriment to the side, and it means it’s the right time for the two parties to part ways.
Matheus Cunha has already been signed as a replacement, and with more expected to arrive in the coming weeks, it seems that United are prepared for the departure of their wonderkid academy player.
