All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea as they race the early window deadline.
Chelsea have just two days remaining to get their early summer deals done ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. The Blues have already wrapped up Liam Delap, and Enzo Maresca is hoping to snap up a goalkeeper before the end of the early window.
More signings are likely during and after the Club World Cup, but any signings won’t be able to link up with Maresca and his men Stateside if they are signed after Tuesday. As the Blues continue their bid to improve, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.
Maignan deal ‘agreed’
Chelsea are said to have agreed a deal for Mike Maignan after days of negotiations with AC Milan. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea have agreed a £15.2million deal to land the goalkeeper. Maignan is out of contract next summer, and with the keeper not yet signing the deal, Milan were left in tricky position.
The Blues reportedly bid £12.6million initially, but they have ultimately landed on a higher fee. Chelsea must now get the paperwork finalised and terms agreed by the end of Tuesday for Maignan to be eligible to play in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Felix asking price
Chelsea are already willing to take a more than £20million cut on Joao Felix as they look to sell the Portugal international this summer. The Blues only signed the attacker last summer on a £45million, and they now want to get rid.
Reports in Portugal suggest that Chelsea want to sell and they are willing to do so for just £21million. That’s a huge cut for the Blues, but they have shown a willingness to cut ties with failed investment in recent times, even if it is at a big cost. Benfica have been linked with a move for Felix this season.
Madueke stands out
Noni Madueke stood out for England in their narrow win over Andorra, according to Thomas Tuchel, with the winger providing an assist. Tuchel told reporters after the game: “He was maybe over the course of the match the most dangerous, the most active. I could feel his hunger and the desire and determination to do the plan. He was one of the few who met the expectations.”
Madueke spoke to BBC after the game, saying: “We haven't lost yet, we haven't conceded yet [under Tuchel]. Grounds for optimism. Today wasn't as everyone would have hoped in terms of the scoreline, but we won the game. My job is to create and score goals. I was able to create one today so I'm pleased.
"He [Tuchel] is very intense. very clear with what he wants. He has high standards. He doesn't allow anyone to drop under them. That's the kind of coach that will benefit England. We're not stupid, we know the scoreline isn't the one we wanted to have. I thought there were good parts of the performance. It's not all doom and gloom. There are positives to take."
