Marcus Rashford's '£50m contract' means Manchester United could back down into unwanted decision

Manchester United need to find a new home for Marcus Rashford following his short loan at Aston Villa.

Ruben Amorim heavily criticised Marcus Rashford for his attitude in training before eventually freezing the forward out of the Manchester United squad completely.

A loan to Villa Park followed but Aston Villa decided against signing Rashford permanently despite having a £40 million buy option attached to the deal.

As things stand, the 27-year-old is set to return to Carrington at the end of the month but Rashford is pushing to join Barcelona this summer.

Rashford is willing to take a pay cut to join Barcelona, but the Spanish giants are going through financial turmoil so are hesitant to meet United’s £40 million valuation.

Man United make Marcus Rashford loan decision

Rashford has offered to drop into United’s U21s if his move to Barcelona is denied, but Ineos are holding out for a permanent sale.

Barcelona have been in contact over a loan deal, but United’s response is that they are pushing for a permanent exit.

However, ESPN report that United have not ruled out another loan deal for Rashford in order to get his wages off the books.

Rashford’s contract is worth “more than £50m” given that his £325,000 per week deal is valid until 2028.

Negotiating a potential termination is out of the picture, so Ineos may have to accept another loan deal for the English winger.

One option is to negotiate a loan deal with a mandatory buy option included for next summer.

Marcus Rashford sale would provide huge PSR boost

Agreeing a loan deal for Rashford this summer would cause Ineos to surrender a potentially huge PSR boost.

Ratcliffe has saved United from PSR problems this season, but bringing in any new signings now relies on making sales.

As an academy product, Rashford’s sale would provide straight profit to United’s books, which would free up a huge budget to be spent this summer.

However, a loan deal to Barcelona would only save United from Rashford’s wages, and that’s only if Barcelona agree to cover his full weekly wage.

The likes of Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho are also expected to leave, but Rashford was supposed to generate a big profit this summer. Now that is in doubt.
