Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has ruled out a potential transfer to Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.
The Denmark international had a dismal 2024/25 campaign with the Red Devils. He scored just four goals in the Premier League.
United are working hard to sign a new striker for next season. Liam Delap was a top target last month, but he chose to join Chelsea.
The Red Devils are now exploring the transfer market for an alternative.
Amidst this, there has been speculation that Inter could be prepared to sign Hojlund on loan with an obligation to purchase.
The 22-year-old has now poured cold water on the story by insisting that he expects to play for Ruben Amorim’s side next term.
He said (via Ekstra Bladet): “I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United.
“I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.”
When asked specifically about the Nerazzurri interest, Hojlund reiterated his determination to continue with the Red Devils.
He added: “No. As I’ve told you before, I try to stay away from all that, because it’s both for better and for worse these days. I know I can’t get much out of reading things.
“I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United until 2030.
“I expect to play there, so I’m just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good preseason.”
Hojlund can’t be United’s first-choice striker next season
The former Atalanta man had a difficult season with United. He looked short of confidence upfront and was guilty of squandering several clear-cut chances.
He was also unconvincing with his hold-up play in the final third. The Dane won just 29 percent of his duels, which is unacceptable for a starting striker at United.
The Red Devils need an upgrade on Hojlund. Joshua Zirkzee was brought in to provide competition, but he has looked more comfortable in attacking midfield.
United must pursue another marquee marksman. Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres would be a perfect addition to the ranks after a sensational 54-goal campaign.
The Swede has his sights on playing Champions League football next season, but he has not ruled out a potential reunion with Amorim, as per Portuguese outlet O Jogo.
Gyokeres will cost £59 million. It remains to be seen how the Red Devils can free up funds and wages if Hojlund turns down the prospect of joining the Nerazzurri.
United value Hojlund at around £38m, but he appears determined to stay put.
