Former Georgia running back Nick Chubb expected to sign with new NFL team, per report

It looks like **[Nick Chubb](https://247sports.com/Player/Nick-Chubb-19986)** will be playing for a different NFL team in 2025.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Chubb is expected to sign with the Houston Texans on Monday if all goes well with his physical. Signing with the Texans would mean a big change for the 29-year-old Chubb, who spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns.

Chubb rushed for 6,843 yards with 51 touchdowns during his time in Cleveland. A second-round pick by the Browns in 2017, Chubb made the Pro Bowl every year from 2019-22 and was a second-team All-Pro in 2022.

Chubb faced a significant challenge in his professional career when he torn his MCL and damaged his ACL during the 2023 season. He came back from the injury last October and ultimately finished the season with 102 carries for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Chubb is in line to join a Texans franchise looking to bounce back in 2025. Houston's offense did not live up to expectations last fall, and the run game finished 15th in the NFL in rushing yards. He would join a backfield that includes Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce, and rookie Woody Marks.

Chubb put together an outstanding collegiate career with the Bulldogs that featured an impressive comeback from injury.

Chubb was six games into his sophomore season as a Bulldog in 2015 when he tore his MCL, PCL, and LCL and suffered cartilage damage early in Georgia's game against Tennessee. Chubb turned his attention to rehabbing the injury and was able to come back for Georgia's 2016 opener against North Carolina, Kirby Smart's head coaching debut. Chubb not only played against the Tar Heels but contributed quite a bit, taking 32 carries for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Bulldogs' 33-24 victory.

Chubb and fellow star running back Sony Michel were two of four major Georgia contributors who turned down the NFL after the 2016 and returned to Athens for their senior seasons. The move paid off for all involved, as Georgia put together a 13-2 season, won the Rose Bowl in double overtime, and played in the College Football Playoff national title game. Chubb ended his senior season with 223 carries for 1,345 yards and 15 touchdowns.

"Being from the state of Georgia, it was one of my goals since I was a kid to play for the Bulldogs," Chubb said in a quote in Georgia's media guide. "I got the chance to go to school in Athens, and it was everything I had dreamed it would be. There was a reason I stayed my full four years. The friends and memories I made were unbelievable. UGA will stay my second home forever."

Chubb left Georgia with 758 carries for 4,769 yards and 44 touchdowns. He set a program record for average gain per rush on a minimum of 200 carries (7.06 in 2014) and finished second in program history in carries in a career (758), rushing yards in a game (266 against Louisville in 2014), and rushing yards in a career (4,769). Chubb trailed Herschel Walker in all these categories.
