Heat Trade Proposal Would Bring Kevin Durant to South Beach

Pat Riley and the Miami Heat are entering what could be a very hectic offseason. After trading Jimmy Butler ahead of the NBA trade deadline, the Heat could use a franchise player.

Over the years, Riley has never been scared to make a splash move. There could be a couple of big-name players available during the upcoming offseason.

One of those players is none other than Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant.

Could Miami consider pursuing a blockbuster trade to acquire Durant from the Suns? That is something that has now been suggested.

CBS Sports analyst Sam Quinn has suggested a massive trade between the Heat and Phoenix that would land Durant in South Beach.

Here is what the trade would look like:

Miami Heat Receive: Kevin Durant

Phoenix Suns Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Robert Williams III, Nikola Jovic, 2030 First-Round Pick, 2032 First-Round Pick

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Duncan Robinson

Obviously, the trade would be a huge move, including three teams that would have a lot of moving pieces. However, on the outside looking in, the trade could actually make sense for all teams involved.

This is just a suggestion, but if Miami wanted to swing big for Durant, they could come up with this kind of trade to make it happen.

During the 2024-25 NBA season with the Suns, Durant had another big year. At 36 years old, he played in 62 games and averaged 26.6 points per game to go along with six rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks. He shot 52.7 percent from the floor and knocked down 43 percent of his three-point attempts.

Would acquiring Durant alone make the Heat an NBA Finals contender? Probably not, but having him on the roster would make them a much more attractive destination for other players who want to pursue a championship.

Giving up Wiggins, Jokic, Robinson, and two first-round picks would deplete a lot of Miami's depth. In order to compete, the Heat would need to get busy in free agency and add quite a few veteran bench pieces.

While it's possible that Miami could pull off a blockbuster trade for Durant, there are other potential destinations that are more likely. No one should ever count Riley out on a superstar, but fans should not expect the longtime superstar to be playing in South Beach next season.
