Germany striker Niclas Füllkrug did not focus on the negatives or what might have been after his squad’s loss to France.
Instead, the West Ham United striker thought it was a pretty solid performance.
“I think we had good energy in the game. We played against a team that brings extreme quality to the pitch. It’s incredibly unfortunate that we didn’t take the lead – that would have certainly changed the direction of the game,” Füllkrug remarked afterwards in comments captured by DFB.de. “Nevertheless, it was a decent performance overall. We held our own against a team that’s in contention for all the trophies. We had a lot of control and put in a good performance overall.”
Füllkrug’s outlooks seemed to mirror how head coach Julian Nagelsmann felt, but there were reasons to be concerned that should not just be swept under the rug. How did you feel after Germany lost to France?
