NBA Makes Historical Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Announcement During Thunder-Pacers Game 2

The Oklahoma City Thunder are currently taking on the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

Oklahoma City entered Sunday’s Game 3 matchup looking to bounce back after their collapse in the fourth quarter of Game 1 that allowed Indiana to steal a game on the road.

That is exactly how the Thunder played to start Sunday’s contest as they dominated their way through the first half.

The Thunder led by six points at the end of the first quarter and their lead ballooned to 18 points at halftime as they led the Pacers 59-41.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again led the way for Oklahoma City in the first half as he recorded 15 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Chet Holmgren also had it going in the first half as he scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds of his own.

For Shai, he is putting together another incredible performance, which he has had a ton of during his MVP season, but he also made NBA history on Sunday night in Game 2.

During halftime, the NBA announced that Shai has reached 3,000 combined points between the regular season and postseason this season, becoming just the 12th player in league history to do so.

This is an incredible accomplishment by Shai and one that is not surprising after he led the NBA in points during the regular season.

Of course, Shai finished the regular season averaging 32.7 points per game, resulting in him ending the regular season with a league-leading 2,484 points.

His scoring dominance has continued into the playoffs where he is averaging 30.2 points per game and has already scored a total of 529 points and he has a chance to score a lot more with there being still at least two more games to be played in the series.

While this is an incredible feat for Shai, his main goal is to help the team win Game 2 on Sunday as they try to avoid falling down 2-0 in the series.
