Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min once chose Mohamed Salah over Neymar, Eden Hazard, Ronaldinho, Gareth Bale, Arjen Robben, and David Beckham. The South Korea international made his choice during a rapid-fire round during an interview with GOAL in March this year.

In the first round, Son was asked to pick one between Neymar and Gareth Bale. He went with the Brazilian before apologizing to Bale. The 32-year-old then chose Eden Hazard over Arjen Robben.

When David Beckham and Ronaldinho came up next, Son took a deep breath and picked the 2005 Ballon d’Or winner. For the last pair of the first elimination round, the South Korean star promptly chose Mohamed Salah over himself.

Son had to pick between Neymar and Eden Hazard in the second elimination round, and after thinking about it, he went with the former, saying (GOAL en Español's Instagram):

"When you look at the whole package of the seasons, the whole career, I would say Neymar."

He then picked Mohamed Salah over Ronaldinho, bringing the Q&A session to the showdown between the Liverpool talisman and Neymar. Son ended the battle by picking Salah over Neymar.

When Son Heung-min said he is a big fan of Mohamed Salah

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Mohamed Salah has etched his name into the annals of Premier League history. The Egyptian achieved a new feat in the just-concluded season, finishing the 2024-25 league with the most goals (29) and assists (18). In the process, he became the player with the most joint goal involvements (47) in a Premier League season.

In November, Son Heung-min heaped praise on his attacking rival, saying he was the best player in the Premier League. Son said (via Liverpool.com):

"I'm a big fan of him, it's unbelievable what he does. We speak a lot about the players, there is a lot of good players but for many years, Salah has been very very consistent."

At the end of the 2021-22 Premier League season, Son and Salah shared the Golden Boot award, as both scored 23 goals. After receiving the individual prize, the South Korean player said (via SPORTbible):

"It's incredible to have this award. I can't believe it. I got really emotional. I dreamed of it as a child. Literally it's my in hands. I can't believe it."

Mohamed Salah recently signed a new deal with Liverpool, while Son Heung-min's contract with Spurs will expire next summer.
