OKC Thunder Did What No NBA Finals Team Has Since 2019

The Oklahoma City Thunder entered Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday looking to even the series after the Indiana Pacers were able to steal Game 1 of the series on the road.

That is exactly what the Thunder were able to do, and in dominant fashion, as they easily defeated the Pacers 123-107 on Sunday night.

With the victory, the Thunder now tie the series 1-1 as it shifts to Indiana for Game 3 on Wednesday night.

Sunday’s contest was a complete team performance by the Thunder as they saw their stars put up impressive numbers along with two players off the bench.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for Oklahoma City with 34 points, five rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

Chet Holmgren also came up huge in the victory as he recorded 15 points and six rebounds while Jalen Williams added 19 points, five rebounds and five assists of his own.

Oklahoma City also had a spark off the bench in Alex Caruso who scored 20 points while Aaron Wiggins added 18 points and four rebounds off the bench as well.

This was the definition of a team effort by the Thunder and they also accomplished what no team has done in the NBA Finals since 2019.

With the Thunder having five players score 15 or more points in Game 2 on Sunday, they became the first team to accomplish that in the NBA Finals since the Toronto Raptors did so in 2019 against the Golden State Warriors.

Of course, the Raptors were able to win the championship in 2019 over the Warriors with Kawhi Leonard leading the way and the Thunder now hope that they can do the same in their series against Indiana.

Oklahoma City now heads to Indiana for Game 3 on Wednesday night where they will look to gain control of the series with a victory.
