Liverpool transfer news as Florian Wirtz medical 'expected in days' and Victor Osimhen race…

Florian Wirtz ’s Liverpool medical could take place “in the next days,” according to transfer reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Recent reports have claimed the Reds saw a third bid turned down for the Bayer Leverkusen star over the weekend, with the German club said to be holding out for a staggering €140 million ($160M/£118M).

That would be a British record transfer fee for the 22-year-old, who appeared to hint last week that he expects his transfer to be completed. That view is certainly shared by Plettenberg, with the German reporter telling Sky Sports that a deal is inching closer.

“I expect the medical will take place in the next days, as we expect the total agreement between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen within the next one, two, or three days,” he revealed.

“There has been a new offer, a fresh offer from Liverpool in the last two days. The package is almost €150M, with a big package of possible add-ons included.”

Plettenberg added that “some more details have to be clarified” between Liverpool and Leverkusen, but Wirtz is “totally convinced” that the deal will go through.

Speaking separately, he also claimed that RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko is expected to join Arsenal this summer. There is a “positive feeling” between the clubs, but no agreement yet on price, states Plettenberg.

Sesko had previously been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, an option that now looks off the table, as does a move for Liam Delap, who has already signed for Chelsea.

But one striker who could be up for grabs is Victor Osimhen. Reports over recent days had claimed he was bound for the Saudi Pro League, but Fabrizio Romano ended that suggestion on Sunday, reporting the Nigerian’s future remains uncertain.

He wrote on X that Osimhen has “rejected” Al-Hilal’s approach, with the race “now open” to sign the Napoli star.

Galatasaray, where Osimhen played last season, remains in the picture for a player who has been linked with several Premier League sides.

Liverpool is among them, with the Reds mentioned as a possible destination for the 26-year-old over recent months.

Whether he remains first choice is unclear, though. Hugo Ekitike is the striker referenced most frequently in Liverpool transfer round-ups, and given his age, would align more clearly with Liverpool’s transfer policy.

Other possibilities include Julian Alvarez, Viktor Gyokeres, and Alexander Isak. The latter is widely considered the best striker on the market, but Newcastle United’s steep asking price could prevent a summer move.
