Newcastle United want to bring Joao Pedro to the club during this summer’s transfer window.
Geordie Boot Boys understands that Pedro is unsettled at Brighton, who are ready to demand as much as £70million for the Newcastle United transfer target.
Indeed, Newcastle have enquired about Pedro, although Chelsea are also in the mix.
The Blues have already beaten Eddie Howe’s side to the signing of Liam Delap this summer, so the idea they could swoop in for another target is most unwelcome.
However, comments from iNews reporter Mark Douglas on social media platform X were interesting.

Newcastle United ahead of Chelsea in Joao Pedro transfer battle
Douglas was asked if Newcastle were ahead of Chelsea in the pursuit of the 23-year-old.
While Douglas stressed the interest was still at an early stage, he did suggest that Newcastle had a slight edge over the Blues when it comes to trying to sign the Brazilian this summer.
Clearly, things could still develop but that at least sounds promising from a Newcastle perspective.

How much Newcastle United can spend on transfers this summer
Football finance expert Adam Williams has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle could freely spend £200-£300million this summer.
That obviously doesn’t mean they will and splashing that kind of cash could max out their headroom for the next PSR assessment window.
The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) do not allow clubs to lose more than £105million over a three-year accounting period. That means that such an excessive spend this summer would surely have implications on their PSR position down the line.
Still, having some kind of spending power is promising to hear. Targets like Pedro would add depth to the squad, given he’s able to operate in a number of different attacking positions.
With a Champions League campaign to come, having that kind of strength in the squad will be crucial.
