Wolves will ‘significantly improve’ Gerard Martín salary – Tempting him as transfer considered

Wolverhampton Wanderers have expressed their interest in Barcelona’s Gerard Martín.

That’s according to Monday’s edition of Sport, and they cover Wolves interest and the La Liga winners’ stance on the left-back.

Martín played less than 1,800 minutes from 43 games for Barcelona last season and was a backup for Alejandro Balde.

Barcelona had no plans to sell the 23-year-old but are now willing to sell him or Héctor Fort if there’s an deemed acceptable. That’s because the duo are expected to have a limited role at the Camp Nou.

Wolves are showing interest in Martín, and he extended his contract [until 2028] at the start of this year. He’s currently valued at €7.5m by Transfermarkt but Sport state his club want more, at least €12m, to sell him.

Hansi Flick’s side haven’t received any offers yet but are certain the ‘deal could go ahead’ this summer. The newspaper states they are expecting offers, probably from Wolves.

The Spaniard would like to continue at Barcelona, but Vítor Pereira’s side could change his mind. Sport report the Premier League club are ready to offer him a long-term contract and will ‘significantly improve his salary’.

Wolves’ Rayan Aït-Nouri is set to complete a move to Manchester City and his sale can help them meet the fee requested by Barca to sign Martín.
