Jack Grealish, pictured after Manchester City lost the FA Cup final, is being linked with a move to Everton
It is the third week of the close season and it is anything but quiet The rumour mill has gathered momentum and the latest big name linked with Everton is Jack Grealish.
The Manchester City star is out of favour at the Etihad and a flurry of reports at the weekend stressed that, while no contact between the clubs had been made, the Blues were tracking his potential availability.
Such a move, probably on loan, would be a statement signing by The Friedkin Group in their first summer as Everton owners.
It would likely cost a lot. It would represent a departure from the policies of the past - a search that focused on young, hungry starlets who could develop with the club. But then, the Blues enter the summer in a very different scenario to the past few.
Grealish is not the only name to be mentioned in the same breath as Everton. Villarreal forward Thierno Barry is on the club’s radar and is reported to have a release clause of around £33m.
If the Blues were willing to pay £30m for Liam Delap then the fee should not be the sticking point should interest turn into a genuine pursuit.
All of this speculation continues with the club yet to confirm the position with regards to the soon-to-be out-of-contract Seamus Coleman, Idrissa Gueye, Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Jarrad Branthwaite continues to be linked with a move away, with managerless Tottenham Hotspur interested.

Grealish latest
Grealish then, where are we at?
According to Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail the Blues are 'shock contenders' for the England international midfielder.
"Inside Sport understands that no talks have taken place between the two clubs, but that the Merseyside outfit is aware of Grealish's availability," the report suggests.
"Any potential move would be likely to be in the shape of a loan deal, with the former Aston Villa man's £300,000-a-week wages an issue with the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules continuing to trigger headaches across the competition."
Additionally, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano said there was interest from Everton in the Manchester City man.
It's said there have been internal discussions about a move, although no formal proposal has been put forward yet.
Grealish looks set to be left out of City's squad for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, paving the way for a potential exit.
