Manchester United are set to face a potential transfer battle with Tottenham, as Thomas Frank eyes a reunion with one of his Brentford stars if he makes the move to N17.
Tottenham Hotspur are yet to complete any new signings since announcing the permanent purchase of centre-back Kevin Danso from RC Lens, following his loan move in the winter window.
Spurs also confirmed that they have triggered the extra-year clause in Ben Davies’ contract, as they look to retain some much-needed experience within their squad ahead of a potentially busy summer.
Heung-min Son could depart Tottenham this summer, with clubs in Saudi Arabia circling, but much of the club’s transfer business will hinge on the identity of the next man in the dugout.

Thomas Frank wants Tottenham to hijack Bryan Mbeumo transfer
Ange Postecoglou has since been sacked by Tottenham, with the club aiming to rebuild their squad ahead of a 2025/26 season that will see UEFA Champions League football return to Hotspur Way.
Thomas Frank is being widely tipped to succeed Postecoglou, and it appears the Danish manager has already started to put forward his transfer wishlist.
According to a report from The Mirror, Thomas Frank is said to have informed Tottenham that he wants the club to rival Manchester United in the race for Bryan Mbeumo, who is set to be the Red Devils’ second signing of the window.

Bryan Mbeumo is valued at £60 million, and with Frank expected to be confirmed as Postecoglou’s replacement in the coming week, it is claimed he is keen to bring the Brentford forward with him to north London.
Manchester United and Spurs locked in Bryan Mbeumo wage battle
Manchester United’s interest in the Cameroon international is concrete, with reports indicating that Ruben Amorim’s side has already submitted two bids for Mbeumo, and the player is said to be open to a move to Old Trafford.
Although United are currently favourites to land the Brentford attacker, it is understood that Tottenham Hotspur are banking on their Champions League qualification to help sway the player, who has one year remaining on his contract with an option for a further year.
Despite Spurs’ UCL leverage, Manchester United are reported to have tabled a more lucrative offer, with wages of £150,000 per week and add-ons pushing the deal up to £200,000 per week following detailed discussions with the player’s representatives.
Spurs, meanwhile, have offered a package worth around £130,000 per week, and while bonuses have been included, the total remains shy of United’s bid, meaning they may be relying on Frank’s relationship with Mbeumo to help swing the deal in their favour.
