Newcastle United’s transfer shortlist for the summer window includes several Premier League and European names, according to a detailed report by The Athletic’s Chris Waugh.
The club continues to target players in the 21-to-23 age bracket, with a focus on long-term development and top-level potential.
Waugh reported that Newcastle retain a strong interest in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, a target from last summer, and he remains high on their list of defensive reinforcements.
After missing out on Dean Huijsen, who has joined Real Madrid, Newcastle have compiled a new shortlist of centre-back options with Guehi among the priorities.
According to Waugh, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga have been tracked, along with several wingers based in Europe.
There is no interest in Man City’s Jack Grealish despite steady speculation. Waugh confirmed that Newcastle would not meet the forward’s wages and see no need for another left-winger given the presence of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes.
In goal, Newcastle are expected to return for Burnley’s James Trafford after a failed bid last year. Espanyol’s Joan Garcia has also impressed the recruitment team.
Other names under consideration include Brighton forward Joao Pedro, who continues to have advocates inside the club, Waugh reported.
