Newcastle United are eager to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest after failing to land the winger last summer.
On transfer deadline day in 2024, Newcastle United made a move for Elanga. However, their bids were rebuffed by Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle want Elanga again in 2025, and are not leaving their pursuit until the last minute.
The current stumbling block appears to be the price, with Newcastle valuing Elanga at £35million. In contrast, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side want nearer to £50million for the Sweden international.

Manchester United will want Newcastle United to sign Anthony Elanga
While Toon officials will be eager to strike a compromise, people connected to Manchester United will feel the same.
They sold Elanga to Nottingham Forest in July 2023 for a fee of £15million. As part of that deal, the Mirror reported in 2023 that Man United included a sell-on clause.
Therefore, the Red Devils are in line to financially benefit if Newcastle United, or any other club, signs Elanga.
Manchester United trying to sign Bryan Mbeumo
The percentage that could go to Man United is unknown, but every little helps as they aim to conduct their own transfer business.

Man United have already signed Matheus Cunha, and they do not plan to stop there.
Bryan Mbeumo was Newcastle’s top target, but the Magpies have decided that he is too expensive.
That has left the door wide open for Ruben Amorim, with Man United trying to sign Mbeumo. He is going to cost a huge amount of money, at a time when Man United are aiming to stay the right side of PSR.
That is why they will be keen for Newcastle to sign Elanga. A deal for the 23-year-old would give them a financial boost, which in turn could help them bring Mbeumo to Old Trafford.
However, there will be fears that this clause leads to an impasse between Newcastle and Forest. Nuno’s side will not receive all of the Elanga money, which is why they will have no appetite for letting him go on the cheap.
As for Newcastle, they will not spend beyond what they believe Elanga is worth.
