The 2024/25 season was one to forget for Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan.
The 28-year-old was one of the standout players under Gary O’Neil in 2023/24, but the season just gone was a really frustrating one for Hwang Hee-chan.
He only made 25 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 868 minutes. That was down from 31 appearances the season before, and 2249 minutes.
Hwang again struggled with injury in 2024/25, so he could not really build any momentum.
But when he was fit to play, he struggled to gain a run of starts, with the likes of Matheus Cunha, Marshall Munetsi, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde all preferred.
After Wolves’ final game of the season against Brentford, Hwang made a cryptic post on Instagram after he did not come off the bench.
And now, the player has been asked about his future.

A lot of players are leaving Wolves at the moment.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
Matheus Cunha has already been sold, and Rayan Ait-Nouri will soon be confirmed as an outgoing player as well.
Wolves have also confirmed that Craig Dawson and Carlos Forbs are departing, and Pablo Sarabia is also leaving as a free agent.
More could follow, and there has been speculation Hwang could be on his way out in this window.
Hwang admitted the season he’s just had ‘upset’ him with the way things panned out.
Several clubs are said to like Hwang, who has responded when asked if he could actually leave Wolves this summer.
He said (via E&S): “I don’t know, I haven’t thought about that yet.
“I’m just focused on getting my position.
“I don’t know, now I will rest as this season was really tough.
“Let’s see what happens, but I love Wolves and my teammates.”
Wolves may hear transfer offers for Hwang
Reading into these comments, it sounds like Hwang – who Wolves signed for £14 million (BBC Sport) – would perhaps currently prefer to stay than leave.
But he hasn’t totally ruled out an exit, and one gets the feeling that Wolves won’t deem him unsellable.

If a good offer comes in, the club will surely consider it and potentially look to negotiate if it’s a bit below their valuation of the player, who only started five times under Vitor Pereira in 2024/25.
Of course, Marseille tabled a £21 million bid for Hwang last year but Wolves rejected it.
One would imagine that if a similar offer came in this time around, the club would find it hard to turn down.
