Over the weekend, Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund heavily suggested he expects to stay at the club this summer.
This was seen as a big sign of the striker’s intentions, as the player also pulled himself away from the talk surrounding a move to Inter Milan.
The Italian press have now taken a look at the Manchester United forward’s comments and Gazzetta dello Sport believe that the ‘reality tells the opposite’ to what Højlund spoke about during his interview with the Danish press.
They are insistent the 22-year-old has expressed an openness to returning to Serie A and has done that by speaking to his agents, who had a meeting with the Nerazzurri in the last few days.
They believe that proof of the player’s intentions is evidenced by Inter asking Manchester United about the terms of the move.
The newspaper states the Red Devils want an initial loan deal with the obligation to buy for around €45m. Inter prefer a loan deal with an option to buy and similar has been reported by Corriere dello Sport.
They claim Manchester United’s valuation for Højlund ranges between €40m and €45m.
The Italian giants are relying on Ruben Amorim’s side not wanting to keep an unhappy player at Old Trafford and that they will eventually sanction an exit on favourable terms.
