Nottingham Forest have confirmed defender Harry Toffolo is to leave the City Ground as a free agent this summer.
The full-back’s contract with the Reds is due to officially expire at the end of this month. He will be released at the end of his deal after three years on the banks of the Trent.
Forest said in a statement: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that Harry Toffolo will depart the club upon the expiration of his contract this summer. Since his arrival from Huddersfield Town in 2022, Toffolo has made an invaluable contribution not only on the pitch, but also off it.
“Last year, the 29-year-old was named as an ambassador for Tricky to Talk – Nottingham Forest Community Trust’s mental health programme – having attended several Tricky Hubs and Bottled Up Blokes sessions, speaking about his own history with mental health whilst actively listening to participants who share similar struggles. Toffolo also attended a number of Community Trust’s Soccer Schools visits, helping to inspire the next generation of aspiring footballers, and his off-the-pitch contributions were rightly recognised as he was named the club’s PFA Community Champion in the 2023/24 season.
“Toffolo, who made a total of 57 appearances for Forest, produced an outstanding goal-line clearance in Forest’s 2-1 away victory at Tottenham Hotspur in April – a win that proved to be crucial in the Reds’ pursuit of European football for the first time in 30 years. The defender’s first and only goal for the club in a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December 2023 meant that he has scored in each of England’s top four divisions, outlining his impressive rise up the footballing pyramid. As he embarks on a new chapter, everyone at the club sends their sincere thanks to Harry for his outstanding contribution to Nottingham Forest and wishes him every success for the future.”
Toffolo has already been linked with a move elsewhere this summer. Scottish giants Rangers have been credited with an interest in him.
The former Huddersfield man is not the only player who could depart the Reds on a free transfer this summer, with confirmation of further exits expected imminently. Defender Jonathan Panzo is expected to move on, with reports suggesting he has agreed a permanent move to Portuguese outfit Rio Ave after spending last season on loan there.
An option to sign Aston Villa loanee Alex Moreno is not expected to be taken up. The left-back has already indicated his time Trentside has come to an end.

Forest have an option to retain the services of Willy Boly for another year but it remains to be seen whether they will activate it. The veteran centre-back has previously been linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia.
If goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is to remain at the club it would likely be in a coaching role, although he was offered a similar position with Wales Under-21s earlier this year. Reports have suggested a 12-month extension was activated in full-back Ola Aina’s contract when it was confirmed the Reds would not be relegated in 2024/25. Nothing official has been announced, but the additional year would keep him tied to the club until the summer of 2026.
