Report: Bayern in hunt for 27y/o Chelsea player; exit inevitable

Bayern Munich are desperate to land a new winger in the summer transfer window, and they could reignite interest in Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

The Blues are likely to sell the 27-year-old attacker who has become surplus to requirements at the club under Enzo Maresca.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nkunku’s future at Chelsea is as good as over, and he will be sold at some point this summer.

Max Eberl held concrete talks with Nkunku back in January, but Bayern weren’t willing to pay €70m (£60m) for him.

Florian Plettenberg reported last month that a decision has been made for Nkunku to exit Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis.

Romano has claimed that while Nkunku has no future at Stamford Bridge, his price needs to drop. Bayern are still interested in signing him.

Have Bayern cooled their interest in Christopher Nkunku?

In recent weeks, Bayern have been linked with a plethora of attackers.

Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo has been linked with a move. Bayern have shown interest in AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and could make an offer for him.

Likewise, Nico Williams remains a dream signing for them.

The club are preparing to let Kingsley Coman leave the club, while Leroy Sane could depart as well. Amid all these, it feels like Nkunku’s name has been forgotten completely.

There have been suggestions that Bayern could get him at a reduced price, for around £35m. If that’s the case, it’s a risk worth taking.

Nkunku managed only three Premier League goals this season in just nine starts, and he needs to move elsewhere to revitalise his career.

He enjoyed a memorable time in Germany, where he netted 58 goals in his final two seasons at RB Leipzig. There’s no reason to believe he can’t replicate those numbers if he moves to Bayern.

It appears that Bayern are not actively pursuing a deal for him, but they might register strong interest, especially if his price drops drastically.
