Victor Osimhen is a name who has been linked with Chelsea for some time. The Napoli striker has been a long-term target for the Blues, with the club heavily linked with a deal last summer.
With a move to Stamford Bridge not going through, the forward moved to Turkish side Galatasaray on loan for the season. In the campaign just gone, he scored 26 goals in 30 league appearances and also provided a further five assists.
With the end of his loan deal coming up, the striker will be available for transfer again this summer. Despite the signing of Liam Delap, the Blues continue to be linked with further striker targets as Enzo Maresca looks to strengthen his side.
Osimhen’s name has again been mentioned with Napoli looking for a sale this time around. There has been a lot of talk over where the 26-year-old could end up over the last few days.
So, football.london has taken a look at the latest news and reports surrounding Osimhen and his future.
£63m decision
In a boost to the other clubs interested in the striker, Osimhen has rejected a big money move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
A £63 million package had been agreed between Napoli and Al-Hilal, with the club targeting Osimhen as a marquee signing this summer. There were reports of a medical being scheduled, but the player turned down a deal due to his preference of staying in Europe.
Reports in Osimhen’s home country of Nigeria claim that a ‘top Italian club’ are showing an interest. Galatasaray are also keen to make his loan deal permanent this summer.
Osimhen is said to be keen to take his time in making a decision over his future with Napoli desperate to sell the player.
Race ‘open’
The race to sign Osimhen is now ‘open’, according to Fabrizio Romano. The journalist says that Galatasaray are pushing hard to sign the loanee, but other clubs are still in the race.
Man United stance
Manchester United will no be pursuing a deal for Osimhen this summer, according to ESPN .
The report says that despite his availability, he is not the profile of the striker that the club are looking for in the current transfer window.
It is also said that the £63 million would also be an issue for the club, with the side already having spent a similar fee on Matheus Cunha and looking to spend big again on Bryan Mbeumo.
