Manchester United have made a solid start to the summer.

The summer transfer window will temporarily close for business on Tuesday evening, meaning time is running out for Manchester United to add to their squad ahead of the mid-window deadline.

As a result of the new-look FIFA Club World Cup format, the transfer window opened earlier than usual this summer on June 1.

United made a flying start to the window, confirming the signing of Wolves star Matheus Cunha just 14 hours after the shutters had been lifted. He has agreed to sign a five-year deal subject to him obtaining a visa and registration.

He is United's only new recruit so far this summer, but the club is working on a deal to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo. They saw an opening offer of £55million knocked back for the Cameroonian last week.

However, United are understood to still be in talks with the Londoners and they are expected to submit a new and improved offer. It is believed Brentford are holding out for a similar fee to the £62.5m United paid to sign Cunha, although that was via a release clause.

Unless the situation develops at 100mph, United are highly unlikely to add Mbeumo to their ranks ahead of Tuesday night's 7pm deadline. However, the fact the window will open again as soon as next Monday (June 16) means that not too much time will be lost.

As far as outgoings are concerned, United have confirmed Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen will leave Old Trafford when their contracts expire on June 30.

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton is also out of contract at the end of this month, but United could tie him down to a new deal. The Manchester Evening News reported last month that he is open to staying at United for another season and could sign a new one-year deal.

United want to be proactive in the seller's market this summer and want to offload the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony. It is important the club generates funds to bring in new arrivals.

In addition to trying to sign Mbeumo, United want to sign a striker, a midfielder and a goalkeeper. The addition of a specialist right wing-back is also yet to have been ruled out.

United ins and outs so far:

In: Matheus Cunha (£62.5m - Wolves).

Out: Victor Lindelof (end of contract), Jonny Evans (end of contract) and Christian Eriksen (end of contract).
