Five of the best Bryan Mbeumo alternatives for Premier League clubs

The right-winger market looks set to be a popular one for Premier League teams this summer with several sides seeking reinforcements.

Bryan Mbeumo was a target for a number of top-flight clubs, but the Cameroonian is giving preference to Manchester United. Amid that disappointment for rival clubs, we’ve looked at some potentially interesting alternatives to the Brentford man.

Five of the best Bryan Mbeumo alternatives for Premier League clubs

Mohammed Kudus (West Ham)

Mohammed Kudus appears to be nearing the exit door at West Ham, with the Ghana international keen to play European football. Kudus shone in season one with the Irons, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, but saw his performances dip as West Ham declined as a collective in 2024/25.

The 24-year-old retains plenty of admirers, however, with his ability to beat players a game-changing option. Kudus led Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons in 2023/24 and ranked third on the same metric last season.

With the flexibility to operate across the frontline, he could be an ideal Swiss Army Knife option for sides in search of attacking additions. Kudus has a release clause of £85m in his contract at the London Stadium but it’s unlikely any side will go that high.

Evann Guessand (Nice)

Evann Guessand’s reinvention last season led to the best campaign of the Ivorian’s career. Moved from a central role to a position as a right-sided forward, Guessand thrived.

He scored 12 times and provided eight assists with only five players directly involved in more Ligue 1 goals.

There was variety to Guessand’s goals, while an ability to hold off pressure and navigate through tight spaces with his dribbling appeals. He was the second-most fouled player in Ligue 1 last season. Nice need to sell this summer to raise funds and Guessand is attracting plenty of interest from England. The 23-year-old has a reported price tag of around £25m.

Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad)

Takefusa Kubo is understood to be exploring his options with a Premier League move at the top of the player’s wish list.

Kubo has been a regular name in the gossip columns, following his performances at Real Sociedad. The Japan international reached 10+ goals and assists in La Liga in 2022/23 and 2023/24, though saw those numbers drop last season as Sociedad struggled.

🚨🔍 Takefusa #Kubo is one to watch in the summer transfer window, as he’s currently leaning towards a move to the Premier League.

The 24y/o winger has already received multiple enquiries. Price valuation: €30-40m.

However, the 24-year-old’s underlying numbers highlight his threat. Across Europe’s top five leagues, he’s in the top one percent of wingers for successful take-ons, progressive carries, attacking penalty area touches, and progressive passes received. Kubo has a release clause of €60m but there’s an acceptance that Sociedad could do business for a little more than half of that.

Johan Bakayoko (PSV Eindhoven)

Eredivisie imports have notoriously been hit-and-miss in the Premier League but there’s a lot to like about Johan Bakayoko.

The 22-year-old has played an important part in back-to-back title triumphs for PSV Eindhoven and looks primed for a big move. He scored nine times from just 17 league starts last season, adding two further goals in the Champions League. That included a lovely effort as the Dutch side beat Liverpool in Eindhoven.

He averages a mammoth 7.41 progressive carries per 90, while only two players managed more in total in the Eredivisie last season despite his limited starts. His contract expires in 2026, opening up the prospect of a reduced fee transfer.

Noni Madueke (Chelsea)

Noni Madueke could be a casualty of Chelsea’s continual transfer business. The winger has failed to establish himself as an automatic starter in West London and is set to face increased competition again next season.

Estevao Willian will join up with the Blues this summer, while Chelsea are in the market for another wide player. Madueke has made an encouraging start to his England career and was a bright spark in an otherwise drab win over Andorra last week. He will want to ensure regular minutes as he looks to make the squad for next summer’s World Cup.

A fine ball carrier, Madueke ranks in the top one percent of wingers in Europe for progressive carries per 90 minutes. Last season’s return of 11 goals in all competitions was also the best of his career.
