Arrowheadlines: Former Chief Chris Conley retires — to go back to filmmaking

The latest

Former 49ers WR Chris Conley announces retirement, plans to return to Georgia to pursue new career | CBS Sports

NFL free agent wide receiver Chris Conley, who played the last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, announced his retirement Saturday after 10 seasons, choosing film school over a continued football career. The former third-round pick out of Georgia finished his NFL career with 221 receptions, 2,926 career receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

According to his agent during an interview with NFL Network, Conley will re-enroll at Georgia and study film. An avid Star Wars fan, Conley will purse filmmaking and already has worked on one intergalactic project previously.

In an announcement on his personal Instagram account, Conley said, “when I was a kid I wrote down a set of goals. On that list was ‘Play 10 years in the NFL.’ Now that this goal has been accomplished, it’s time to set sights on something new.”

Previously, at the end of his collegiate career, Conley stressed the importance of education in a letter to Bulldogs fans.

“I would like to set an example that we as people should have a goal to unite families, neighborhoods, and cities for the well-being of our state and then our country,” Conley wrote. “Call me an idealist but I believe that all it takes for change to take root is a willing participant and the faith that it will happen. That same willingness and faith is what allowed a 2-3 star recruit to defy the odds and contribute at the greatest school in the country.

WWE’s ‘The Miz’ suggests Chiefs star for American Gladiators | Chiefs Wire

During a recent appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Miz suggested that Chiefs star Travis Kelce would make a great addition to the show as a Gladiator.

“I’m gonna go with two tight ends. I’m gonna go, George Kittle, I’m gonna go with Travis Kelce, because of personality,” said Miz during the broadcast, “A Gladiator has to have a great personality, and got to be out there, not only do that be physically dominating but they got to be someone, either you’re root for, or you’re gonna boo kind of like a WWE superstar.”

Nick Chubb Eyes Transformative NFL Move to Kansas City Chiefs | Motorcycle and Sports

Kansas City Chiefs: A Perfect Fit?

The Kansas City Chiefs, known for their high-octane offense, have long been searching for a consistent ground game to complement their aerial assault led by Patrick Mahomes. Integrating a player of Chubb’s caliber could elevate the Chiefs to an even more formidable force. His ability to control the tempo and wear down defenses would provide a new dimension to their already potent attack. The union of Chubb’s power running with the Chiefs’ dynamic passing game could create a near-unbeatable offensive juggernaut.

Who Should the Chiefs Target in the 2026 NFL Draft? | SI

Round 1, Pick 30: Caleb Banks, DL

“Caleb Banks is a traditional DT who was solid as a pass rusher in 2024, with four sacks and 29 pressures on 233 pass-rush snaps. At 6’5″, 325 pounds, Banks mostly lined up like Chris Jones— outside the A-gap instead of inside it,” Stolte wrote.

“*The Kansas City Chiefs hope Banks can eventually replace Jones, who turns 32 before the 2026 season. This pick is a projection (Banks isn’t a first-rounder just yet), but the potential is real.*”

The Broncos will be a serious threat in the AFC because of this duo | USA Today

I’ll always believe that Payton is the best play caller in the history of the sport. One of the best play designers. One of the best at getting his players to understand his concepts, and adapting his concepts to the player. I know this because I’ve seen it up and close and personal. Watched him do it. Brees will skip into the Hall of Fame and some day Payton will follow him.

Now, I’m seeing the same thing in Denver. It goes beyond the obvious that Nix and Brees are similar specimens. It’s Payton again morphing the offense around what Nix does best. Payton is also criminally underrated in building a good culture. He’s creating Saints West. Not the Saints you see now. Or the almost comically bad Saints teams from the 1970s. It’s the one that was once solid and even feared.

Trey Hendrickson to Eagles? Tyreek Hill to Patriots? Seven trades we’d like to see during NFL offseason | NFL.com

Tyreek Hill to theNew England Patriots.

Hill has been at the center of Dolphins headlines this offseason. It actually started when he voiced his frustrations at the end of a disappointing 2024 campaign in Miami, both for the Fins (who finished below .500 for the first time since 2019) and Hill (who missed the Pro Bowl for the first time in his nine-year career). The star receiver publicly expressed a desire to play elsewhere, an idea the Dolphins nixed and Hill himself quickly backtracked on. However, I’m not convinced Miami will keep him, considering his off-field issues and the fact that the franchise can save nearly $15 million by moving him, per Over The Cap. The Dolphins might be wary of trading within the division, but if not, the Patriots and Drake Maye certainly could use Hill’s services in the passing attack. New England has admirably overhauled the offense this offseason, and Hill would continue that trend by giving Josh McDaniels a guy who can elevate his attack to the next level due to his speed and field-stretching ability.

Former Dallas Cowboys CB Kelvin Joseph Arrested Following Fatal Crash | SI

Plano police received a call from Joseph before 6 a.m. local time admitting to authorities that he had been involved in a crash that struck a motorcycle. Joseph’s BMW collided with a motorcycle and killed a 27-year-old woman who was operating the bike. Police said they “observed signs of intoxication” from Joseph, who was taken into custody.

Joseph’s driving while intoxicated charge is a misdemeanor, while the collision involving personal injury or death is a second-degree felony.

Joseph played two seasons for the Cowboys before also joining the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts. He has been playing with the DC Defenders of the UFL this summer.

Chiefs News: Chris Jones attending voluntary OTAs ahead of 2025 season

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones is setting a strong example this offseason during organized team activities (OTAs), demonstrating his leadership as he enters his 10th NFL season. The five-time Pro Bowler is embracing the offseason work, using the voluntary practices to connect with teammates and the new class of rookies.

Although OTAs are optional, Jones is choosing to be on the field, in the locker room, and around the team — demonstrating the kind of leadership that has helped define the Chiefs’ success in recent years. On Wednesday, defensive line coach Joe Cullen called Jones’ attendance “phenomenal” and said that it is meaningful to the younger players to see the veteran at these early practices.

“Chris has been here almost every day, and he’s a great leader, he’s in great physical shape and he’s working hard.” shared Cullen. “He’s also taking the time with the rookies and for those guys to see a player of his caliber doing that at this time of the year, it’s invaluable.”

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who has coached Jones since 2019, knows firsthand the impact the veteran brings — not only on Sundays but also throughout the entire year. The coordinator sees Jones’ participation at OTAs as a significant boost to the team’s offseason preparation.
