Fans group launch independent survey

West Ham United supporters' group Hammers United, in conjunction with the Football Supporters' Association, have launched an independent survey designed to improve the matchday experience in Stratford.

It was confirmed last week that circa 43,000 fans had renewed their season ticket for the 2025/26 season - a figure some 8,000 higher than the total capacity of the club's previous home in Upton Park.

However that number also represents a drop of nearly 10,000 from the record number of season ticket sales at the London Olympic Stadium, with more than 30,000 supporters estimated to have failed to renew their season tickets since moving the club from Green Street to Stratford.

And in the wake of a deluge of complaints about the former Olympic stadium, ranging from concerns regarding the stadium layout to the poor atmosphere, Hammers United have vowed to seek to improve the fanbase's lot beginning with the launch of the new survey (which may be found at surveymonkey.com/r/whu-matchday).

"Our fans have a reputation for loyalty, and pride in our traditions," said Hammers United. "We have faced many struggles over the years and we have always stood tall in the face of adversity.

"Right now our very existence is under threat. This is not hyperbole, our traditional support is haemorrhaging. Many thousands of time-served West Ham fans have already walked away, and more are joining them.

"If this continues unabated, the ramifications for the club we all love will be catastrophic. It’s happening on our watch and we simply cannot stand by and do nothing.

"We owe it not only to ourselves but to those who came before us, and our children and grandchildren who, if the natural order is to be preserved, should be coming after us.

"Everyone, including the club, knows that the London Stadium leaves a lot to be desired, and on so many fronts. We also know that there are varied and differing opinions on how to improve things.

"Our task is to gather the views, opinions and suggestions from the fan base, present these to the club and then work together towards making real and worthwhile improvements to the matchday experience which we hope will stop more fans from walking away, and convince a sizeable number of those fans who no longer attend games to come back."

The independent poll, which should take no more than a couple of minutes to complete and is being conducted without input or interference from the club, asks fans a broad range of questions regarding their matchday experience while seeking suggestion regarding potential improvements.

Hammers United are hoping to receive in excess of 6,000 responses before taking their findings to West Ham United. You may discuss the survey on this dedicated, KUMB Forum thread.
