Man United are edging closer to reaching an agreement to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during their most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old is pushing to join United and has made his desire known.

The likes of Newcastle and Arsenal have been linked with the Brentford forward, but he is set to snub alternative interest as he has his heart set on United.

After having two bids rejected, the two parties are now advancing towards an agreement and there is a growing feeling the deal will be completed in due course.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 6 June that Man United will reach an agreement with Brentford, who are demanding £60million for his signature.

Ruben Amorim is believed to be an admirer of the Cameroon international, while his lofty wage demands are not expected to disrupt the deal.

Man United pushing to agree Bryan Mbeumo signing

Brown told Football Insider on 22 May that United are pushing to sign Mbeumo and are set to prioritise his signing ahead of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Ham, insisted that

“*Man United are advancing towards signing Bryan Mbeumo,*” he told Football Insider.

“The player has made it clear he wants to join United, that’s the move he wants.

“They’ve made two offers for him now and they’re getting closer to reaching the asking price.

“So it’s a deal I expect to happen and one I expect to happen soon.

“There’s no way he now stays at Brentford, and both parties know that, so it’s in everybody’s interest to get the deal over the line.

“Ruben Amorim is a fan of his and he sees him as somebody who will improve his team.

“Personally I’d have a few questions if the talk about him demanding five times his wages are true, but I don’t think it’s going to disrupt the deal.

“He’s a very good player, he’s strong and quick and I think he’d be a good fit.”

Ruben Amorim plans change after Bruno Fernandes decision

Amorim is aiming to add to his squad this summer, but Bruno Fernandes’ decision to turn down a move to Saudi Arabia may force him to restructure his plans.

That is according to former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who told Football Insider that Man United have now altered their transfer plans.

Fernandes’ potential departure would have seen United bring in up to £100million, which would have been reinvested in transforming the squad.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that United would accept offers for Fernandes in the interest of raising transfer funds.
