Spanish sources continue to suggest there’s some chance of Real Madrid entering the race to sign Martin Zubimendi, but Fabrizio Romano says otherwise.

Jose Felix Diaz reports for Spanish outlet Marca that Martin Zubimendi’s proposed transfer to Arsenal isn’t set in stone, and the player could still opt to join Real Madrid.
According to Diaz, Zubimendi recently received a call from Real Madrid to open up the possibility of signing for them, and the situation is still open.
Diaz claims Real Madrid hold a genuine interest in the player, and the club are preparing to make their interest known to Real Sociedad.

Yet not everyone is convinced. Fabrizio Romano tells DAZN Futbol that the transfer of Zubimendi to Arsenal is already practically closed, and he’ll be an Arsenal player next season.
With regards to a Real Madrid move for Zubimendi, Romano adds that he “doesn’t see it”, and a medical should take place soon for the player to join the Gunners instead.

Various reports have revealed that Real Sociedad want to delay a transfer until July for financial reasons, including the deal in next year’s accounts. The hold-up seems more to do with that than rival interest from Real Madrid.
Sami Mokbel reported for the BBC a couple of weeks ago that all relevant documents in relation to Zubimendi’s transfer to Arsenal have already been signed, with the transfer now just subject to a successful medical.
And Arsenal insider HandofArsenal confirmed again on Sunday that legal documents have been exchanged and agreements are in place. Once the medical is done, the transfer will happen.
