Arsenal are said to be readying an offer for a winger target who could save them money aplenty.

Arsenal are said to be preparing to make a formal offer to land a winger target this summer. The Gunners have plenty on the docket to work on this summer as they look to finally win that elusive Premier League title after coming close on multiple occasions and dropping off significantly in the season just gone.

Mikel Arteta has found himself in need of signings in a number of positions this summer, with a striker, winger and back-up goalkeeper very high up on the list of needs. Meanwhile, the Gunners also need depth at a number of positions, including midfield, with Jorginho having left at the end of his contract, while talks are still ongoing with Thomas Partey.

Sané has not yet signed a new deal, but he does have an offer on the table, with Florian Plettenberg reporting in May: “FC Bayern are sticking to their offer for Leroy #Sané: around €10 million fixed plus €5.5 million in bonuses, as revealed — ideally with no signing fee and a contract running until 2028.

“Max Eberl wants clarity by or just after the weekend: ‘Leroy and his agency know what we want and they know the conditions. We hope he decides for us.’ Arsenal are back in the race. Other teams from England are also waiting for his decision. … with Bayern also counting on the fact that Sané has publicly stated that he wants to stay.”

More recently, journalist Sami Yen Haber made a fresh claim on Sunday, suggesting Arsenal would be submitting an offer on Monday. He wrote on X: “Arsenal will make a formal offer for Leroy Sane tomorrow.”

Sané’s agent, Pini Zahavi, met with Bayern at the very end of May, telling Sky Germany: "We had a very good dinner, it was a nice dinner, I enjoyed it. But no news. I cannot speak about it, but it was a nice meeting."

Arsenal should move swiftly

Sané will be part of Bayern’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the United States this month, although if Bayern progress in the competition, the winger would likely have to sign a contract lasting at least a couple of weeks to continue playing.

In the meantime, Arsenal should move quickly to get this deal done. They need signings aplenty this summer, and they could do with saving some cash where they can. Sané is going to command a very big wage to move, given the absence of a transfer fee, but this calibre of player does not come without a transfer fee very often.

The Germany international is an experienced player with a proven record of winning, and above all, Arsenal need those types of players - players who know the difference between competing for titles and getting the job done.
