Chelsea has dropped its asking price for Christopher Nkunku amidst interest from Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich has missed out on Florian Wirtz. With this has come a handful of new rumours linking the Bundesliga champions to high-profile attacking options such as Kaoru Mitoma and Rafael Leão. Mixed in with these rumours is the reemergence of Bayern’s reported interest in Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

Nkunku is a player that Bayern has had on its radar since his time in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, and was once again linked to the club just last January. At the turn of the new year, Chelsea was demanding 60 million Euros from any team interested in Nkunku’s services. The latest reports, however, suggest that the London side has dropped its asking price as it looks to push the player out the door this summer.

Christopher Nkunku is still appreciated by Bayern. The expectation is that he will leave Chelsea this summer. Back in January, Chelsea were asking for 60 million - but the price has to drop this window. There's interest around Europe in Nkunku [@FabrizioRomano] pic.twitter.com/udOPySZbTk

After two consecutive stellar campaigns for Die Roten Bullen in the German Bundesliga, Chelsea secured a 60 million euro transfer for the player. As per Transfermarkt, Nkunku’s market value has since dropped to 35 million euros from the 80 million it had reached when he first moved to England.

Nkunku’s time in the Premier League started slowly, with injury issues stopping him from getting a significant amount of minutes. In the latest season, Nkunku had better luck with his fitness, but only managed five goal contributions in the 24% of league matches he started. If Bayern is to take a swing at Nkunku, it better be for a significantly cut price, as the Nkunku of old doesn’t look likely to return.
