The summer transfer window is heating up, with Manchester United fans still awaiting the club’s first big splash under the INEOS regime.

Ruben Amorim has made it clear that United must get their recruitment right, and rumours continue to swirl around potential incomings and outgoings at Old Trafford.

The spotlight has largely been on outgoings, but attention turned this weekend to one of the greatest players ever to wear the red shirt.

Cristiano Ronaldo, fresh off lifting another international trophy with Portugal, has confirmed what lies ahead — and it might surprise some supporters.

The 40-year-old was at the centre of yet another international triumph as Portugal edged out Spain in a dramatic UEFA Nations League final, winning 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw across 120 minutes.

Although he didn’t take a spot kick after being subbed off late in the game, the Manchester United legend played a pivotal role in Portugal’s second goal and later revealed he had been playing through injury.

Speaking after the match, Cristiano Ronaldo ended speculation surrounding his club future by confirming he will remain at Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, despite rumours linking him with a move to Al-Hilal, CF Monterrey or even a romantic return to Europe.

“Practically nothing will change.

“Will I be in Al Nassr? Yes,” Ronaldo told reporters, shutting down talk of an imminent transfer just days before the Club World Cup kicks off.

Ronaldo’s commitment comes despite reports of dissatisfaction with Al Nassr’s third-place finish in the league and their Champions League disappointment.

He also defended Portugal manager Roberto Martinez, blasting critics and saying: “If a coach reaches the final, it is because he has done an excellent job.

“There has been a bit of a lack of respect in this regard.”

The former United forward went on to describe the commitment he has for his country, stating he would have “broken his leg” if it meant helping Portugal win, after revealing he played the final with an injury sustained in the warm-up.

While some Red Devils supporters hoped for a dream third stint at Old Trafford or a fairytale European finale, Ronaldo’s decision appears final — his chapter at Manchester United remains closed.

Yet his legacy at the Theatre of Dreams will forever live on, even as he adds to it from afar.
