Report: Wake up Everton as Crystal Palace could steal in and sign £30m star

David Moyes will have a big say in the transfers he signs this season, as he has already been on a few scouting missions for Everton.

Carlos Alcaraz’s arrival this summer probably had a big impact from Moyes in making the deal happen.

This is after Moyes praised Alcaraz, with the Argentine fitting like a glove in the Scotsman’s plans.

Everton now need to keep up the momentum with other clubs snooping around targets, as the likes of Angel Gomes won’t join Everton.

This could be the same for another name, as Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace are looking to secure a deal.

Crystal Palace appear on Everton target Maxime Esteve’s radar

The Toffees manager has a desire to sign Championship players this window, with Moyes convinced that talent is developed well in the second tier.

This meant that Burnley centre-back Maxime Esteve is now in Everton’s plans this summer, as the Frenchman played a key role in the Clarets’ defensive success last campaign.

Moyes personally watched Esteve as the Scotsman remains a big fan of the 22-year-old following his performances.

However, now it’s clear Moyes isn’t the only fan of the young defender as Glasner’s Palace are looking to stake their claim.

This is according to Alan Nixon, who states that Marc Guehi’s future plays a big part in the South London side going for Everton’s target.

Palace are possibly in the market for two defenders, especially if Guehi leaves and it’s clear that they have a ‘live interest’ in Esteve.

Everton might have to leave Esteve after his past admission

With competition clearly building for Esteve’s signature, Everton need to make a move quickly.

The defender has shown his excellence for the Clarets this season and could do the same in the Premier League with Burnley or not.

Moyes’ strategy is to explore the Championship, and even though Esteve looks highly impressive, he might have already made his feelings clear.

Previously, Esteve detailed his ambition to stay at Burnley, as with Scott Parker’s side already in the top flight, the defender is happy to stay put.

The Friedkin Group can’t waste time this window, and with Palace potentially having the upper hand after securing Europe, it might be best for Moyes to drop the Toffees’ interest for now.
