Three players Newcastle should sign if Tino Livramento leaves including a Champions League…

Newcastle United face a fight to keep Tino Livramento on Tyneside following transfer interest from Premier League giants Manchester City.

After two seasons at the club, the 22-year-old has solidified his place in Eddie Howe’s starting XI thanks to his commitment and unbelievable quality.

Tino Livramento has been playing as a left-back for the latter part of the season, but has looked unstoppable at times at right-back for Newcastle United.

However, Newcastle fans could soon be saying goodbye to him after it was reported that Manchester City are interested in Livramento. Despite their interest, Livramento is deemed untouchable by Newcastle, with their stance being that they would rather sell Anthony Gordon than him this summer.

Newcastle have Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth and academy prospect Leo Shahar available if Livramento leaves the club this summer, but Howe will ideally want a new starting right-back to replace the talented defender.

With the possibility that Newcastle will sign a right-back if Livramento leaves, here are three quality players that Howe should consider signing to replace him.

Vanderson

If Howe is eager to sign another young right-back, he should look no further than Monaco star Vanderson. The Brazilian joined the Ligue 1 side in 2023 from Gremio and has made a good name for himself in France.

Following a bright 2024/25 campaign, Vanderson has attracted interest from clubs in the Premier League, including Manchester United.

GiveMeSport have reported that Man United are ready to bid around £25m for Vanderson, a fee that Newcastle can easily afford this summer after taking a sensible approach to the previous three transfer windows.

A boost for Newcastle is that Vanderson has played Champions League football with Monaco, making nine appearances this season. He should be able to handle the pressure of the occasion at St James’ Park when the time comes around.

Additionally, Vanderson recently played alongside Bruno Guimaraes for the Brazil national team in a 0-0 draw against Ecuador. The Newcastle man could prove to be a secret weapon for Howe if a deal came to fruition.

Denzel Dumfries

A Champions League finalist, Denzel Dumfries is well aware of what it takes to perform on the biggest stage. At 29, Dumfries may be an older pick to replace Livramento, but that does not mean he is any less capable than Livramento.

The Inter Milan right-back has been integral to their progress since signing for the Italian giants in 2021, scoring 22 goals and bagging 26 assists in 177 appearances.

With the futures of players like Trippier in doubt, Newcastle need more experience and quality in that position, which Dumfries can provide.

A deal for Dumfries would set Newcastle back around £34m this summer, a bargain fee considering what he has achieved over the last few years.

Kyle Walker-Peters

Newcastle raided Southampton to sign Livramento, and they could do the exact same with Kyle Walker-Peters.

After five years at the Saints, Walker-Peters is now looking to move on and will leave the newly relegated club for free this summer. That news gives Newcastle the perfect opportunity to swoop in and save money on a right-back with a lot of Premier League experience.

Appearances 33

Goals 0

Assists 2

Signing Walker-Peters means Howe would have a more experienced player than Livramento, with the England international starting his professional career in 2015 with Tottenham.

Newcastle were linked with Walker-Peters in 2023, but were unable to get a deal done for the 28-year-old. However, it could be a different story this time around.
