GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Green Bay Packers were apparently unable to find a team willing to pay the right price for star cornerback Jaire Alexander.
The team is releasing Alexander on Monday, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Back in February, we reported the Packers were having trade conversations about Alexander.
Rapoport said the Packers were “open to moving him for the right price.”
Alexander suffered a knee injury in the Nov. 3 loss to the Detroit Lions and was only in the next game for 10 plays the following week.
A knee injury during a loss to the Minnesota Vikings knocked him out for the rest of the season. He underwent arthroscopic surgery for pain and swelling and might have returned if the Packers post-season extended to the Super Bowl.
In 2022, the Packers signed Alexander to a four-year, $84 million extension that included a record $30 million signing bonus for a defensive back and made him the highest-paid cornerback in the league.
